CIT I & II (Client Intervention Training): This is a 10 hour class that will run from 8-6 and will be offered on Saturdays because of the time requirement. This class will certify providers to work with clients who have behavior plans and require CIT, and is helpful to providers who work with aggressive clients.  The first part of the class is 6 hours and covers defensive techniques as well as a didactic portion that covers prevention and positive behavior support. CIT II is the last 4 hours of class and covers techniques that can be used when a provider, the client or another individual is in imminent danger. Employees will be paid $25.00 for taking the class.

CPR & First Aid: This class is conducted by members of Phoenix Fire Department and covers adult, child and infant emergency care.  Certificates are good for two years and must be renewed prior to expiration date in order to remain an employee of H.O.P.E. Group.  Certificates can be purchased for $30 per class.

FBA- Looking at the Bigger Picture: Sometimes the individuals we work with display behaviors that are socially inappropriate and/or dangerous.  This class prepare providers for looking at the behaviors, the cause for the behaviors and how we can change the environment to shape and teach replacement behaviors.

Autism 101: Autism Spectrum Disorder is a Neurodevelopment disorder typically appearing before the age of three. As its name states, Autism has a vast range of symptoms, manifestations and individual needs. Because of this, training was developed to discuss the common characteristics, current research and best practice approach in the growing field of Autism.

Ethical Considerations in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA): This class is designed to address the ongoing ethical considerations in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis.  The class is required for all providers working beneath a Board Certified Behavior Analyst including but not limited to: ABA Tutors, ABA Paraprofessionals, Lead Trainers, Consultants, Junior/Senior Tutors etc. The class discusses the ongoing growth in the field and the considerations necessary to be an effective provider. Topics discussed include but are not limited to: dual relationships, cultural differences, scientific validation etc.

Developing Replacement Behaviors: This training addresses how to identify behaviors that are not socially appropriate or behaviors that will not function in your client’s life and how to introduce new behaviors that will serve as a more appropriate alternative. The goal in developing replacement behaviors is to provide your client with an appropriate alternative that will fulfill the same function as the maladaptive behavior.

Pivotal Response Treatment: Once attending the introductory ABA class, this training provides an inside look on naturalistic teaching using the principals of ABA.  Originally developed by Dr. Robert and Dr. Lynn Koegal, this training emphasizes the importance of maximizes use of child lead sessions to address 5 pivotal areas: Motivation, Responsivity to Multiple Cues, Self-Management, Self-Initiation and Empathy.  This training includes video examples of implementing ABA techniques during scheduled sessions.

Everyday Living:  This class is designed to go into further detail on the Chaining process and how it is used to increase independence in multiple step daily living skills. Examples of these skills include but are not limited to: toileting, hand washing, brushing teeth, following recipes, bathing, completing household chores etc. The class is designed to address all age groups and will include hands on application activities.

Balancing Support with Success:  This class is designed to discuss the need for self determination, self gratification and independent skills by fading our supports as the individual becomes more and more successful.  The focus is on making our clients successful from the start and slowly fading our prompts to maximize their ability to live successful, independent lives as we are each entitled to.

Senior Tutor Workshop:  This class is designed to prepare providers for working under a consultant following an ABA Treatment Plan.  This class is required for all Senior Tutors, ABA Paraprofessionals and ABA Tutors prior to working as a tutor within the home.  This class is recommended for all providers interested in working beneath a consultant and/or Board Certified Behavior Analyst.  Topics include a brief recap of the original ABA training, definitions of ABA terminology and the roles and responsibilities of running a data collection program book.

Welcome to the System: Whether your loved one is newly diagnosed or has been enrolled in the Division of Developmental Disabilities this class is a great overview to prepare you for upcoming ISP meetings, transitions, support coordination questions, services etc.  The training will allow for open discussion to address critical concerns such as changes in legislature, changes in division policy and changes in your loved one’s care. This class is recommended for all family members in need of learning how to navigate the system.

Community Awareness and Safety: Generalization is the key to Autism Treatment.  It is important for our clients to know how to safely engage in social, communication and self-help skills in the community, not just in their home environment. This class offers information on safety and independence in the community as well as tips for emergency situations and teaching flexibility.  This class is geared toward all age groups.

Discrete Trial Training: Discrete Trial Training is a method of teaching in which skills are broken into small increments and “built up”.   This teaching method allows for us to use the basic principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to increase motivation and learning with children diagnosed with Autism.  Through the use of prompting and reinforcement children are able to practice skills to mastery before generalizing into the community.

Orientation to Early Intervention: This class is specifically designed for families with children enrolled in the Habilitation Masters Program (HBM).  The purpose of this class is to outline family, client and agency policies and procedures for all clients receiving this service.  This general orientation will allow for questions to be answered regarding process, assessment, interviewing, programming and training (all necessary components of an in home program based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis).  This class will be required for all HBM families to take within the first 60 days of services.

Steven’s Law :This training discusses Steven’s Law and State Mandate coverage of Applied Behavior Analysis for children 0-16 diagnosed with Autism.  It will also go into detail on how to navigate your insurance company and determine whether services will be providers, what co-pays are required and how you can advocate to your employer in order to qualify for private insurance ABA services.
